I’m still chewing through Ecclesiates. I’ve spent the last month or so reading and re-reading the first five chapters. Chapter 5 has so much to chew on. For instance:
- Go into God’s presence carefully and ready to listen. (5:1)
- Think before you open your big mouth. (5:2)
- The more words you use the greater your chances of saying something foolish. (5:3)
- Don’t commit to anything you aren’t completely sure you can do. (5:5)
- The more you love money the more money it takes to satisfy you. (5:10)
- Material things only please the eyes, they don’t fill the soul. (5:11)
- All the things you work so hard to “collect” have no place in eternity. (5:15)
- Contentment comes from God. (5:19)
