The Gospel Continues

We are nearing the end of an amazing series through the Gospel of John at Vintage Church. (Listen to each week’s message here.) It has been awesome to just be inspired by the life and ministry of Jesus. Last Sunday was one of them most memorable times of worship we have ever experienced. God used John 9:1-12:12 to radically change our lives.

We were all moved by Mary’s extravegant expression of love to Jesus. What she did symbolized what we all must do. She threw off tradition and publicly declared who Jesus was to her. The jar of perfume was a great representation of her life journey. It was valuable to her not just because of it’s cost but because of what it represented. She must have spent years trying to obtain something of such great cost. It was more than just a jar of perfume, it was her identity. But now she had found something, or someone, in which she could find her identity. That someone was Jesus!

On Sunday I watched as many others shattered the things that defined them in order to step into new life in Jesus. This is some of their responses. They inspired me! I hope they inspire you as well.

“Financial Management skills/knowledge to work towards long term goals of being debt free.”

“God, release me from: concern over money and material things and worry over the future.”

“I need my worry shattered.”

“I need my personal relationship with God back.  I feel far away from Him.”

“I want my worship to be more sincere.  To move from Religious to Relationship.”

“God, help me put you first in my life and don’t let anything stand in my way in order to worship You fully, the way You deserve.  Help me to make you #1″

“God, we need you to shatter the bitterness and resentment we hold in our hearts, so we can move forward.”

“I need my jealousy shattered.”

“My ways of accepting defeat, and embracing uncontrollable anger.  I need to have more faith in God and trust that there is a reason for everything that happens in my life.”

“Control my drinking so I can better serve God.”

“My friends needed to hear this message, but their seats are empty.”

God is going to do something even more powerful this week at Vintage. Do everything you can to get someone there!
